Original Cyanotypes

Cyanotypes require UV light to transform an iron-based emulsion to a rich, deep shade of Prussian blue. After placing plants onto paper that I've coated with cyanotype emulsion, I often apply other materials to achieve different textures and colors. The outcomes vary depending on the exposure time, pH of any liquids introduced. The collaboration with nature and element of surprise in every piece keeps this process endlessly interesting.
