Inspired by my garden and the natural beauty of the woods surrounding my home, I use acrylic paint and my homemade gelatin plate or a synthetic "gelli" plate to create these acrylic monotypes. While traditional printmakers rely on the pressure of a printing press to pick up details, the malleability of the gel plate allows me to capture surprisingly complex nuances in leaves and stems, using only my hands as the printing press.  Adding multiple layers and experimenting with different color combinations leads to hours of artful, joyful exploration with branches, leaves and flowers.
