Light dances on the leaves in this peaceful blue scene.
I love the idea of using materials in unexpected ways. Even better if it's something that has been discarded and I can transform it into something beautiful. Inspired by this idea of reuse and the reclaimed elm veneer I found at a salvage shop, this acrylic monotype was first printed in several layers onto a paper-thin sheet of elm veneer. Then I mounted it onto a cradled wood panel. The final step was to finish it with cold wax which not only seals and protects it but also creates a lovely velvet-smooth surface.
Mixed media, 14x18" acrylic and cold wax on elm veneer, mounted on cradled wood panel.
